As we all know, bone health is mostly associated with calcium. But, calcium cannot perform its duty with lack magnesium supply. Without magnesium, the body cannot absorb and metabolize calcium. Magnesium is important for bone strength and firmness, and also it helps to prevent the disorder that occurs in bones which are called as osteoporosis. Magnesium plays a major role together with the thyroid gland and parathyroid gland, to help and support bone health. It increases the production of calcitonin, which is the hormone that helps calcium to move from blood and tissues to bones. And also magnesium helps to stimulate parathyroid hormone which helps to break down bones. Magnesium is essential for 80% of cellular enzyme production, and some of these enzymes are required for new bone health. Magnesium is necessary for vitamin D to convert itself to the active form of calcium absorption. And also magnesium helps the body to transport calcium.  Any deficiency in magnesium will fall your bone health into a higher risk. 
As with calcium, the majority of the body’s reserves of magnesium are held in the bone, and bones act as a storage reservoir, by transferring magnesium into the bloodstream when it is needed. Daily intake of magnesium is very important to keep the store of magnesium in your bones without being lost. Low magnesium intake and low blood and bone magnesium levels will lead you to many disorders. The average amount of recommended daily magnesium intake is up to 300mg to 500mg. Magnesium oxide is also available it’s not an expensive product, but its absorption is poor. Since high doses of magnesium can cause diarrhea, it is better to divide your doses and take them with meals throughout the day. By eating magnesium-rich foods, you can increase the daily magnesium intake; such as brown rice, buckwheat, corn, dandelion greens, dark green vegetables, legumes, nuts (almonds, cashew) rye, seeds (sunflower, sesame, pumpkin) and whole grain cereal.
Osteoporosis is the main disorder that occurs in bone due to poor magnesium intake. Osteoporosis is a disorder that occurs due to decrease in the density of bone and its strength and resulting in fragile bones. And this will cause great damage to bone health. To prevent osteoporosis, you should have a proper calcium and magnesium doses to your body.
Magnesium works together with calcium to maintain your bone health. The level of calcium will increase when you intake more magnesium because as above described magnesium is the key mineral for the calcium absorption and metabolism. More magnesium intake will lead your body to absorb more calcium into your bloodstream and ultimately into your bones, but if you increase the calcium intake it will allow the body to use the remaining magnesium to absorb it, and this will result in magnesium deficiency in the body. Too much calcium will cause calcification of soft tissues as the excess calcium gets absorbed and stored where it doesn’t belong. So these two minerals do work together, but they need to be balanced.
